Potty Training seems to have its ups and downs. We were doing really good (to the point I was about ready to call Rhett potty trained) but then Rhett hit a bad couple of weeks where we were having as many accidents as successes. But now we are back in the trenches of it all and seem to be making good forward progress.
I also got up the crib so that I don't have to worry about the crib mattress taking up room and now I have a Rhett free zone to store little B's stuff. Which is really nice because recently our Walmart did a flannel sale so I made two large receiving blankets (44 by 44 inches) with matching burp rags, which are now safely tucked away in her crib.
A few weeks ago Porter's had a sale ($10-15/per yard) on their Minkee fabric (it is a super soft and pretty expensive fabric often used in baby quilts) and I was able to get enough to make two crib sized quilts (one for Rhett and one for baby). I think they will be really nice for them to use when we take long car rides. I have finished the one for the baby and just need to purchase some quilt binding for Rhett's. When I went to pick out the Minkee I took Rhett along and as soon as I put the fabric in the cart he just laid his head on it and was in soft fabric heaven.
In addition to getting up the crib on last Saturday I went through Rhett's toys. I sorted them into DI, baby toys (that will be reserved for baby girl), Rhett's everyday toys (Blocks, trucks, wagon and favorite stuffed animals), and then daily quiet binds. I am really excited about the every day binds I think they can be really good for Rhett developmentally and I think it will be nice to pull them when I am nursing number 2.
I had my glucose test doctor's appointment and everything is looking great! My blood work looked awesome (sugar and iron levels), my blood pressure amazing, my weight gain is super, I was measuring just right and baby's heart-rate was great! The doctor gave me a high five with everything looking so great and asked Brock how it was to be married to Mary Poppins, someone who is practically perfect in every way (If he could see the stack of dishes that I have waiting to go into the dishwasher every day he wouldn't have said that). We talked about the VBAC and he said I still look like a great candidate for one but we really won't know until the baby come on whether or not I can really do it.
I think my next appointment I will talk to them about doing an ultrasound at the 36-37 week mark to check her size, because I figure if I can grow a 9 lbs. 12 oz. baby in 39 weeks I can probably grow a 8 lbs. baby in 37 or 38 weeks.
I was talking to my older sister and we were talking about C-sections and how many women who have C-Sections have guilt that they didn't do it right or that something was broken with there body (which I have felt both). After discussing it with my sister I decided that I will love my baby so much whether she is born C-section or VBAC, and that it doesn't make me any less of a mother or Rhett any less my son because he was born through C-section. I have found myself reflecting lately about what a miracle the technology of C-sections are. In pioneer times (and undeveloped parts of the world today), it was (is) common for women to die in the child birth process and the rate of infant mortality was (is) high, but now because of the technology of C-Sections babies don't have to get stuck they have an optional route out. I am really trying to prepare my emotions for a C-section and become educated about the natural birthing process, then which ever happens I will be ready.
A week and a half ago Brock purchased my Christmas present he decided to be nice and give it to me early (this also helps because the box would have been hard to wrap and store). I am seriously excited he got me a Kenmore Elite Stand Mixer. Kenmore and Kitchen-Aid are both made by Whirlpool and Kitchen-Aid only have a 1 year warranty and the Kenmore has a 5 year warranty (which was a huge selling point to me). I also saved 65 dollars over going with a Kitchen-Aid. I have enjoyed how quickly things mix together and how easy it is to make bread now. I have made: Baked donuts, Nutella cookies, Cinnamon rolls, English Muffin bread and Italian bread bowls.
So I realized this post has zero pictures (really boring) so I am going to throw here on the end some of our pictures from our family pictures (Taken by McKenna Wadsworth).
