Our Story: A Really Happy Halloween

This post is the third edition of the Brock and SarahLynn Courtship Story. If you missed the first installment you can read it here and the second one here.

One week passed and he still hadn't asked me out or really shown a ton of interest. I was sure that I had a better time than he had, so I put my best face forward and got ready for the ward Halloween party.

I dressed up as a cowgirl and wore my most fashionable western shirt. I again had my hair perfectly curled sure that I was going to have a good time with friends no matter what. I was being my stubborn self and I decided that he didn't make a move at the ward party I was over him and I would just move on to the next guy in line (just say I had dropped a lot of fishing lines at the start of the semester and if Brock wasn't going to bite I was moving on). Now that I think about it, it really hadn't been more than a couple of days and Brock was probably really busy with school, but I was impatient still the same.

Brock and I kept bumping into each other at the party (now that I know more I realize that is because he wanted to). He asked to take a picture with me which might sound suspicious but in a college ward it isn't too unusual.
The picture for the ward party. I later found out later this was taken so that he could show his family what I looked like.
After we took the picture together, I gently hinted about the Halloween Carnival and Dance were the following night and asked if he was going. He said no because he had too much homework and tests to study for, at that point I realized that we were only going to be friends. The next day was Halloween and I had no reason to go to the carnival so I was busy studying for my Intro to Law test. A ring and telephone call changed all that, it was Brock asking me if I wanted to go to the carnival in 3 hours. Wow. I was grateful for the skilled hands and friendship of Julee that day because she was able to help me study and whip out my hair all before my date.
We did many of the activities before the dance one of them being a blow-up activity where we were strapped harness and we ran as fast as we could and then had to stick a velcro marker on the side. Brock told me not to leap forward when the harness pulled but I didn't listen. I ended up breaking the comb into my head and getting the wind knocked out of me. After I caught my breath we had a good laugh about it. And right then and there Brock learned about my super competitive side.
Brock decided to match my cowgirl attire with a western shirt.
The dance gave Brock a chance to show some humility, as he admitted he was not a very good dancer. With our weaknesses showing through see still had a very enjoyable night. He walked me home that night and I am happy to report it ended perfectly with a hug. From that night on we seemed to find time for each other between school, work and callings.
